More fiber tips – adding pears to your fruit selection.

I really enjoy eating pears – in fact, it’s one of my favorite fruits. I prefer them when they are not quite ripe – still a bit firm to the touch, although eating too many unripe ones can lead to some stomach aches for some people.

Fiber is often most present in the skin of certain fruits, and this is the case with pears. An unpeeled medium pear will provide approximately 5.5 grams of fiber! Pears are also a great source of calcium and magnesium.

I include pears in my brie-pear-pork chops: I add a thin slice of brie cheese to an almost cooked lean pork chop, and a few thin slices of pear over the cheese to give a zingy taste to my meal.
