Week 2 – Day 7


My garden was a great source of tomatoes during the summer months.

From the article “Foods to fight aging” it is stated that tomatoes provide lycopene, which helps prevent heart disease, elevated cholesterol and cancer. Lycopene acts as natural sun block, preventing the UV damage that causes sun spots, dryness and wrinkles. Remember to cook tomatoes for the maximum anti-aging effect.

I use tomatoes in so many dishes as well as raw in salads. One of my friends from France cooked for me a dish called piperade, a spicy tomato-pepper sauce from the Basque region of France can be used as a stewing ingredient or a garnish to a finished dish. It was a great way this versatile fruit.
